At Cheapfabrics we take your online security very seriously. Full details of how we protect the information you provide us are given below:
When you place your order, you are offered the use of an advanced secure server. The secure server software encrypts all information you input before it is sent to us. As an additional security measure, credit card numbers are encrypted both before an order is processed and when stored on our database. For security reasons, we strongly recommend that you do not send credit card numbers by standard email.
Do you offer Payment Authentication?
Your security is our highest priority, so we offer an additional step to give you peace of mind. Verified by Visa (VbV) and MasterCard®, Secure Code (MSC) (often referred to as 3-D Secure or Payment Authentication) acts like a Chip & Pin for your online purchases and protects you by asking for a secret password. The new step within the payment process allows your card issuer to fully authenticate cardholders during the online purchase, reducing the likelihood of fraudulent usage.
Will my card details be safe?
Yes, we use 'Secure socket layer' (SSL) technology to encrypt your payment card to ensure your details are safe. We also use Verified by Visa (VbV) and MasterCard®, Secure Code (MSC) (3-D Secure).
What is 3D secure?
Verified by Visa (VbV) and MasterCard®, Secure Code (MSC), often referred to as 3-D Secure or Payment Authentication, is the latest fraud prevention initiative launched by the card schemes as a more secure method for authenticating the cardholder at the time of the transaction. Both schemes work in the same way by using personal passwords, set by you the cardholder, to add an extra layer of protection when you shop online. The instructions that you see on the pages within our site are coming direct from your card issuing bank (eg, Halifax, Barclays, Natwest etc etc) and any information that you submit on these authentication screens are securely passed to your card issuing bank, no information will be captured, stored or viewed on any of our system.
Verified by Visa and MasterCard SecureCode What is it?
Cheapfabrics uses Verified by Visa and MasterCard SecureCode for added online payment security. These services are offered by Visa and MasterCard, in association with the bank that has issued your credit / debit card. It is aimed at protecting your details when shopping online by ensuring your card is not being used by someone else and is becoming a standard across all shopping websites.
What will I see?
If your card qualifies and you haven’t yet registered, simply follow the onscreen instructions. This process will create an online code (different to your card PIN – an online PIN equivalent) for use on our website and other participating websites. This is a completely secure process. The information you provide is completely private, will only be visible to you and your card issuer, and would never be shared with other parties. If you're unsure about this new service, you may be able to complete your order without registering but your card issuer will eventually require you to register to continue shopping online.
If you would like to learn more about these services or have any difficulty with the process, please contact your card issuer who should be able to assist you.
Checking your Details
If you wish to verify the details you have submitted to Cheapfabrics you may do so by contacting us at firstname.lastname@example.org or write to us. Our security procedures mean that we may request proof of identity before we reveal information. This proof of identity will take the form of your e-mail address and password submitted upon registration. You must therefore keep this information safe as you will be responsible for any action which we take in response to a request from someone using your e-mail and password. We would strongly recommend that you do not use the browser's password memory function as that would permit other people using your terminal to access your personal information.
Cheapfabrics may send you emails from time to time but we would never send an email asking for your security information or log on details, or direct you to a web page that asks for this information. If you receive an email that appears to be from us that you suspect is fraudulent, do not click on any links contained within the email or provide any credit card or log on details. Please forward a copy to email@example.com
